Which PDF should I buy?

Is the colour PDF the main book with coloured pages?
No. This is the most important distinction: the colour edition is a separate, image-led companion. It does not repeat the main book’s 43,439 words of profile narrative. It presents 746 photographs from the collection as colour interpretations, with captions and credits.
Do both PDFs cover the same people?
Yes. Both are organised around the same fifty subjects. The main reference explains their careers and record; the colour companion is built for looking through the photographs.
Are the images in the colour gallery authentic colour?
No. They are clearly labelled generative colour interpretations—not recovered, restored or authentic period colour. The original black-and-white or original-form photographs appear in the main reference.
Are the 746 colour images additional photographs?
No. They are colour interpretations of photographs that also appear in the main reference. The main reference contains a further 80 photographs that do not appear in the colour companion.
Does the main reference rank ‘great generals’?
No. It follows fifty careers through appointments, operations, decisions, failure and aftermath, then separates later reputation from what the consulted record supports.
Does it cover every German commander?
No. It is a clearly defined selection of fifty subjects: operational commanders across the Heer, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine and Waffen-SS, plus five labelled ‘Outside the Chain’ cases.
What device is best for reading?
